St. Jon Microfinancing

Updated: 4 days ago

On January 23, 2026, I journeyed to Kilunga to meet with the Precious Blood Community Group. Formed just last May, this microfinance group has already begun to flourish. As the women shared their progress, I found myself inspired by their determination and unity. Some of the women used their first loan to buy seeds for gardening.  Within a few months, they raised enough produce to sell at the market. With the profit from gardening, they were able to pay school fees for the children. Another women invested in chickens. Others bought secondhand clothing wholesale and then sold them for a small profit. They paid back their loan and continue to grow their savings.

Their story is one of hope—proof that when people come together with a shared vision, remarkable things can happen. Watching their growth, I couldn’t help but believe that if they continue on this path, their future will be bright and full of possibility.

Thank you for your donation that gives groups like this start-up money to add to their savings, enabling them to take out bigger loans and grow their small businesses a bit faster.

Sincerely,

Sr. Mary Paul
