EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Both Sisters Toni and Mary Paul firmly believe that education is the way out of poverty.
They seek to find opportunities to help the poorest of the poor. BUWEA in Bukoba, Tanzania, is the first they chose with which to Partner.
BUWEA: (Bukoba Women Empowerment Association)
Bukoba, a town by Lake Victoria in Tanzania, is home to BUWEA, a women’s network founded by Regina Majaliwa that supports over 2,000 women working to overcome poverty. When Sr. Toni visited, she was made aware of the need for childcare so that the young women were free to develop their small businesses. This inspired the creation of the BUWEA school, built with the help of generous supporters. Thanks to the African Ministry Fund, a fourth-grade classroom was added in 2024, with plans to expand to grade eight. Today, 85 children—from daycare to fourth grade—attend, giving their mothers a safe place for their kids while they work toward a better future.
