ST. JON’S, MICROFINANCING PROGRAM

Working with microfinance groups is an important part of the mission for African Ministry Fund. Together we are building better families, better homes, and sustainable economic improvement for the members. We believe that everyone can learn how to save, no matter how little they have. When people work together and invest in themselves, they can achieve greatness!

FORMING, TRAINING AND MENTORING MICROFINANCING GROUPS IN KENYA, TANZANIA, AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

Sr. Mary Paul Wamatu has been introducing microfinancing principles to groups in Kenya, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo for years. Microfinancing works when groups of people gather and commit to success by saving and paying back loans to the group. The loans vary from $5 to $250 according to members’ business plans. There are currently over 100 active groups with 10 – 40 or more members which support thousands of women and children, and some men as well. The success is unparalleled because of the training and nurturing done by Sr. Mary Paul and her team. Failure is not an option; loans ALWAYS are repaid, and profits are turned into more opportunities.

Raising chickens both as layers and broilers are popular projects for St. Jon Microfinancing groups.
