From Savings to Success: Stories of Hope from Mithini

I had the privilege of visiting three African Ministry Fund (AMF) groups in Mithini, Makueni County, Kenya. Each group shared their narrative reports since my last visit, and I was deeply impressed by the progress they have made.

What stood out most was the growth in confidence, discipline, and creativity among the members. Through their savings and loan programs, these women and families are learning how to manage their resources, make thoughtful financial decisions, and invest in their futures.

For many members, one of the most meaningful accomplishments has been the ability to pay school fees for their children. Education remains one of the most important investments a family can make, and these groups are helping parents provide opportunities for their children that might otherwise be out of reach.

Others have used their savings and loans to build their livestock holdings. What may begin with a few chickens can gradually grow into goats, sheep, and eventually cows. These animals provide both an important source of income and a valuable asset for the future.

Still others have invested in small businesses, expanding their sources of income and creating greater financial stability for their families.

It was truly a wonderful day, filled with stories of progress, determination, and hope. These are more than financial accomplishments—they are signs of families gaining greater control over their futures.

We are grateful to everyone who supports the work of African Ministry Fund. AMF is not simply providing financial assistance; we are extending a hand up. Through consistent savings, responsible borrowing, hard work, and mutual support, these groups are creating lasting change within their families and communities.

The progress in Mithini is a powerful reminder of what can happen when people are given the opportunity, the tools, and the support to build a better future.
